About Us

Longtime locals Rye and Tori both began working in Southeast Alaska tourism in 2015. They quickly fell in love with the engaging, and fulfilling aspects of the hospitality profession. Rye enjoyed working as a bear watch tour guide, whale watching cultural interpreter, and tour bus driver before settling into his current position as a tour sales expert in Juneau. Tori fell in love with the whale watching that Juneau is known for – working as a dock representative, naturalist, and deckhand before getting her Captains license and advancing to whale watching captain.

Like a Local was started by Rye and Tori after recognizing that there are many people who come to Juneau, Alaska searching for a way to see the sights, and experience the area on their own terms. Their goal is to provide visitors with the ability to freely experience Juneau in a way that a local might. With no crowded buses, or tour guide on a tight schedule – visitors are free to check out Juneau the way they want to.

Before arriving in Juneau, Rye and Tori will act as your local guides to help answer any questions regarding local sights, restaurants, shopping or trails. Our goal is to make your day in Juneau everything you had hoped for – and more, with all the local knowledge we will provide.
